About ACT Labor

Welcome to the ACT Branch

Being a member of the Australian Labor Party gives you the opportunity to influence the direction of Australian society.

At a local or national level it is the Labor Party alone which allows its members a direct and influential say in policy development and the selection of candidates for public office. It is this opportunity of involvement by the everyday rank and file member which the ALP now offers to you.

Labor stands for much which is good about Australia. Labor's traditions are of equality and fairness, of countering discrimination and disadvantage. The ALP continues to strive to uphold the right of every Australian to a well paid and satisfying job, a decent environment to live and work in, a secure future for their family and the knowledge that in bad times their community will help them through.

In becoming a member of the ALP you can share in the very real challenges that these traditions still present to us and help to build a fairer society.
