Tony Abbott: Out of TouchMr Abbott is out of touch with Australian families.

Australian families rely on fair wages, and conditions at work to help them make ends meet. However, Mr Abbott has said that he will reintroduce some of the worst elements of the Howard Government’s WorkChoices legislation. This includes individual work contracts, which cut the pay, penalty rates and overtime of many workers.

When Mr Abbott was Health Minister in the Howard Government, $1 billion was cut from our public hospitals, and funding for GP training places was capped. This put more pressure on our doctors, nurses and hospital emergency departments.

Out-of-touch on Education

Tony Abbott does not understand the importance of helping some students to start learning a trade whilst still at high school. He also claimed to be the principal draftsman of John Hewson's Fightback policy in 1993 which would have made it difficult for disadvantaged students to access tertiary education.

Out-of-touch on Health and Hospitals

Mr Abbott cut hospital funding by $1 billion, despite the critical need for more funds, hurting our hospitals and cutting important services for Australian families.

Out-of-touch on WorkChoices

Mr Abbott would bring back individual work contracts which existed under WorkChoices and threatened the pay, penalty rates and overtime of so many workers

Out-of-touch on Climate Change

The Coalition neglected to take action to protect our environment for 12 years and now Mr Abbott says 'Climate Change is absolute crap'.

Out-of-touch on Pollies Pay

When Kevin Rudd froze MP salaries in 2008, Mr Abbott complained, comparing the financial struggle of MPs with those of average working families.
