International Cleaners’ Day celebrates the hard work of cleaners globally for fairer wages and conditions. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event in Los Angeles where cleaners and their supporters demanding justice and respect were attacked by the police.
But this year Australian Cleaners are not celebrating.
This year they will spend June 15 calling on Eric Abetz and Tony Abbott to reinstate the Commonwealth Cleaners Guidelines (CCG) that were savagely cut last year. Cleaners in Commonwealth buildings are on average $6,837.35 worse off annually as a result of the removal of CCG.
