Leah grew up in the outer suburbs of Brisbane and moved to Canberra in 2008. Today, she is deeply embedded in her local community and is passionate about the future of Canberra.
Leah currently works at the Department of Employment and she has previously worked in the Canberra not-for-profit sector as well as the labour movement. Prior to moving to Canberra, Leah worked in aged care and research. Leah is excited by the opportunity to represent a fresh and dynamic Labor in 2016 and to ensure that local community members, particularly young parents who juggle work, family and recreation are represented.
She brings a strong track record of representing Labor Party members at the highest levels of the Party and is eager to continue working with members and the local community to deliver for Kurrajong.
Leah is passionate about campaigning for a smarter and more sustainable Canberra and as a science graduate, is keen to see more opportunities for young Canberrans in STEM. As well as undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and languages, Leah recently completed her Masters of International Relations at the ANU. She lives in Hackett with her young daughter, her partner and their two dogs.
