Stretching from the Victorian border up to Batemans Bay and Durras, and inland to Queanbeyan, the seat of Eden- Monaro covers over 37,000 square kilometres. That equates to an area larger than the nation of Belgium, and more than half the size of Tasmania. It means that Mike has a huge job to perform, ensuring that he serves (and is seen to serve) the whole electorate. The most redistribution has also narrowed the paper-thin margin even further – turning it into a true litmus-test marginal seat. Mike and his team have been driving more than 1000kms per week since he was elected. In the seven days immediately following the last sitting day for example, Mike had events in Queanbeyan, Bega, Bombala, Jerrabomberra, Batemans Bay, Braidwood, Moruya, Narooma, Cooma and Adaminaby – a pretty typical week. That schedule is only going to get more hectic in the coming months and Mike could use your help. Tony Abbott and his representatives are busy trying to undo the good work of the federal government. They are determined to run a negative campaign against Julia Gillard and Mike Kelly, backed by a well funded advertising campaign. ACT Labor members can help counter that campaign by volunteering to help Mike get the word out about Labor’s plan to reform our health and hospital system, our investment in local schools and in Trade and Training centres, and about the effect that Tony Abbott’s plan to cut 12,000 jobs from the public service would have on our regional economy. To volunteer to help Mike hold Eden-Monaro and help keep Julia Gillard as our Prime Minister you can send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
