Volunteer for Yvette

Yvette Berry is a full-time working mum with two young children. She lives with her family in the West Belconnen suburb of Dunlop. Having lived in the electorate of Ginninderra all her life Yvette understands the pressures parents are under, and the importance of having access to quality education, healthcare and Early Childhood Education.

Yvette commenced her working life in the hospitality industry where she stayed for 8 years before beginning her employment with United Voice (previously the LHMU). For more than 15 years now Yvette has worked as a community organiser, representing workers and their families to win fairer wages and better conditions. Prior to being elected, Yvette was coordinating BIG STEPS in Early Childhood Education and Childcare which is the campaign to win recognition through professional wages for Early childhood Educators.

Yvette is currently the Chair of the Select Committee on Regional Development and sits on the following Committees:

  • Justice and Community Safety
  • Education and Training
  • Health and Community Services

Yvette is an advocate for social justice and is concerned with issues such as industrial relations, housing affordability, the rights and conditions of low paid and insecure workers and education.

Yvette was promoted to the Ministry in January of 2015.
