Labor’s Plan for the Inner North & Inner South

October 11, 2020

ACT Labor will build and renew local infrastructure, create jobs and continue to make the Inner North and Inner South great places to live.Labor's plan for the Inner North

As our city grows, a re-elected ACT Labor Government will deliver better healthcare closer to home with a new walk-in health centre in the inner south and expanded services at the inner north nurse led walk-in centre.

ACT Labor will also renew and expand local schools, including a major renewal of Narrabundah College and expanded college places in Canberra’s North. Work will also continue on feasibility and planning for new schools in the inner north and inner south over the coming decade.

Only Labor can be trusted to extend light rail through the Parliamentary triangle and onto Woden, a project that will provide 6,000 local jobs for Canberra.

Labor will also renew local shops, build a new playground in the Inner North, and invest $250,000 in new landscaping, additional lighting and more trees at Telopea Park.

Labor’s Plan for the Inner North and Inner South includes:

  • Work on the Garden City cycle route connecting Watson, Dickson, Ainslie and Braddon
  • Better lighting at Watson Oval
  • Upgrades and repairs to Lyneham Netball Courts
  • Bulky waste pick up service fast tracked to 2021
  • Age-friendly suburb upgrades, such as safer footpaths, in O’Connor and Reid
  • Maintaining site of the Technology Park buildings in Watson as an ongoing higher education institution

Canberrans in the Inner North and the Inner South will also have access to ACT Labor’s food recycling scheme and one day a week of free early learning for three years olds.

The pandemic isn’t over, and there is more work to do. But ACT Labor has the right plan to invest in Canberrans and lead our city through the pandemic.
